Job Scope
As a Kitchen Technician you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of kitchen equipment and appliances in commercial kitchens, restaurants, or food service establishments. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that kitchen facilities operate efficiently to support food preparation and service operations.
Main Duties- Install, calibrate, and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and food preparation stations to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and repairs of kitchen appliances to prevent breakdowns and maintain operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of issues, and perform repairs or replacements of faulty components to restore functionality.
- Respond promptly to service calls, emergency repairs, and maintenance requests to minimize downtime and disruptions in kitchen operations.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for kitchen equipment to extend lifespan, reduce repair costs, and maintain consistent performance; schedule routine maintenance tasks, lubrication, calibration, and inspections according to manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and food handling guidelines in the maintenance and operation of kitchen equipment; conduct safety checks, equipment testing, and risk assessments to prevent accidents, maintain hygiene, and uphold regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies required for equipment repairs and maintenance activities; coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to procure replacement parts, supplies, and equipment upgrades as needed.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, repairs, and service history; generate maintenance reports, service logs, and documentation of equipment performance to track schedules, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Vocational training, certification, or apprenticeship in appliance repair, HVAC, or a related field.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing kitchen equipment, commercial appliances, or food service machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical principles related to kitchen equipment maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, customer‑service orientation, and a commitment to quality and safety in kitchen operations.
