Electrical Technician

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of all electrical systems integrated into custom event fabrications, props, and structural builds. This role requires a technically competent professional who can work safely with low and high-voltage systems, LED and lighting rigs, control panels, and power distribution units within tight project deadlines in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

• Electrical Installation:
  Install wiring, conduit, junction boxes, lighting fixtures, LED strips, and power distribution systems within custom event builds and props.
• System Design:
  Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical specifications to plan and execute installations accurately.
• Lighting Integration:
  Install and programme DMX-controlled lighting, LED systems, and decorative electrical elements in collaboration with design and project teams.
• Testing & Commissioning:
  Test all electrical installations for safety, functionality, and compliance before handover to the project team.
• Fault Diagnosis & Repair:
  Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently under deadline pressure with minimal disruption to project timelines.
• Power Distribution:
  Set up and manage temporary power distribution for events, ensuring safe and adequate supply to all installations.
  
  Compliance & Safety:
  Ensure all electrical work complies with IEC standards, local regulations, and event safety protocols; maintain full documentation.
• On-Site Support:
  Attend event sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of electrical systems.
• Inventory Management:
  Maintain stock of electrical components, cables, and consumables; report shortfalls to project management.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in events, exhibitions, theatre, or custom fabrication environments.
• Recognised electrical qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent national certification).
• Strong working knowledge of low-voltage systems, LED technology, DMX control, and power distribution.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience with temporary power setups for live events.
• Knowledge of IEC/local electrical standards and safe working practices.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills under time pressure.
• Valid driving licence preferred for on-site travel.

• Environment:
  Must be able to work in a workshop environment, which may include loud noise, dust, and heat, with some on-site installation work.
• Hours:
  
  May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet event deadlines.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle tight deadlines and to work on site, which may include lifting, standing for long periods, and working in varied conditions.
