Chiller Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular maintenance checks on chiller systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency, identifying issues before they scale.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system problems in chiller units, implementing timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Install and commission new chiller systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
• Monitor refrigerant levels and manage the safe handling and recovery of refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with HVAC engineers and other technicians to optimize system design and performance during upgrades and retrofits.
• Maintain detailed records of service performed, parts used, and equipment history for accurate tracking and reporting.
• Perform routine cleaning and servicing of condenser and evaporator coils to enhance heat exchange efficiency.
• Perform maintenance and repair of air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers.

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree in HVAC or refrigeration preferred.
• Certification from a recognized body, such as EPA Section 608, to handle refrigerants safely and legally.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and other technical equipment to troubleshoot chiller problems effectively.
• Strong knowledge of electrical wiring and control systems to ensure accurate repairs and installations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with clients and team members effectively.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, demonstrating leadership potential when training less experienced technicians.
