Trade and Industrial Education - Construction, Masonry, Plumbing or HVAC
Job Title: Trade and Industrial Education – Construction, Masonry, Plumbing, or HVAC Teacher
Job Summary: The Trade and Industrial Education Teacher will provide hands‑on instruction in Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry or HVAC to prepare students for careers in the construction industry. The teacher will develop students’ skills in construction techniques, safety practices, and industry standards while integrating real‑world applications and career readiness.
QualificationsLicense Requirement: Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Trade and Industrial Education – Construction (License #74026) teaching license.
Education (Minimum Requirement)- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least 2 years of industry experience
- Associate Degree in a related field with at least 4 years of industry experience
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 6 years of industry experience
- Carpentry
- Construction Management
- Building Construction
- HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
- Plumbing
- Masonry
- Experience in construction‑related trades, such as carpentry, masonry, construction management, HVAC, or plumbing
- Prior teaching or training experience is preferred but not required
- OSHA 10‑Hour Safety – Construction Certification (10 hour online course)
- NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program (ICTP) for Craft Professionals
- Teach students fundamental and advanced skills in carpentry, plumbing, masonry or HVAC
- Provide learning experiences and teach the course of study prescribed by the District and State approved curriculum
- Implement engaging lesson plans aligned with North Carolina state curriculum and industry standards
- Provide hands‑on training in safety procedures, tool usage, and job site management
- Prepare students for industry‑recognized certifications and entry‑level career opportunities
- Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including classroom and workshop settings
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to improve skill development
- Stay current with industry trends and professional development opportunities
- Manage instructional time
- Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity
- Consult with parents, teachers, and the community to enhance the learning of students
- Interact within the educational environment
- Perform non‑instructional duties as assigned
- Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; requires ability to climb and maneuver on ladders, scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces; physical demand requirements are for heavy work
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of construction industry practices and safety regulations
- Ability to differentiate instruction and engage diverse learners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using technology and instructional tools relevant to trade education
- Combination of classroom instruction and hands‑on lab/workshop settings
- Possible outdoor work for construction‑related projects
- Full‑time, 10‑month position
