Opportunity Summary
The IC&E Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our power plant. The IC&E Technician is responsible for calibrating, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment. They ensure safety protocols and industry standards are followed while collaborating with various departments, installing new equipment, and meticulously documenting maintenance activities. Their role is crucial in minimizing downtime and optimizing plant performance.
Your scope of responsibility
- Calibrates, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and installs power plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical systems, including control valves, variable speed drives, motors, battery chargers, inverters, transmitters, analyzers, calibration equipment, and plant-specific instrumentation for natural gas-fired combined cycle plants (turbines, HRSGs, Steam Turbines).
- Performs corrective, preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on electrical systems (13.8KV and 4160-volt switch gear, motors, control centers, transformers, batteries, inverters, chargers, main generator and excitation equipment).
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and optimizes Allen Bradley PLC systems; inspects, diagnoses faults, and tunes PLC programs; collaborates with engineers to improve PLC logic.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient maintenance operations and minimize downtime.
- Installs new equipment and modifications, ensuring safety and standards compliance.
- Maintains, cleans, and stores shop equipment and tools, including specialized tools for instrumentation and electrical maintenance.
- Keeps detailed logs and records of problems, repairs, or downtime; updates plant drawings, databases, vendor information, calibration data, and other documentation.
- Implements safe working practices, identifies hazards, and recommends or implements repairs to maintain a safe environment.
- Assists the Plant Engineer in performing plant tests related to turbine controls, combustion control processes, and boiler controls.
- Works with outside contractors during overhauls, providing technical guidance and oversight on instrument and control work.
- Handles and disposes of hazardous waste (batteries, fluorescent bulbs) per safety regulations.
- Performs other tasks as assigned to support plant operations.
- Uses the Maintenance Management System (MMS) to maintain historical repair and PM records; SAP is used as the MMS at Rosemary Power Station.
