Overview
The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will administer and coordinate the affairs of all disciplines of the department, including Mechanical Maintenance, Instrument/Electrical Maintenance, Reliability, and Project Engineering to achieve overall departmental and corporate goals.

- Ensure department training and safety needs are identified and met.
- Identify any safety, quality, or environmental issues and define solutions using the Corrective and Preventive Action Program.
- Support facility and individual departments in the development and implementation of operating budgets (capital and expense), including project proposals, budget estimates, and updates for annual and quarterly budget reviews.
- Develop, implement, and maintain programs to keep project costs to a minimum while maximizing safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Actively involve employees in the continual development, maintenance, and improvement of maintenance/engineering policies, procedures, design specifications, and business systems.
- Evaluate maintenance/engineering staffing requirements to meet facility/department goals and make recommendations for staffing changes to the Plant Manager.
- Secure, coordinate, and supervise contract consulting, engineering, design, and vendor services for supplemental design assistance as needed.
- Strive to continually improve all aspects of the Maintenance/Engineering Department to create a better work environment for employees.
- Lead the Maintenance/Engineering Department in scoping, planning, scheduling, and coordination of all project‑related activities utilizing all applicable work groups and resources for efficient completion of tasks.
- Conduct regular department group meetings to discuss current and completed activities, share lessons learned, and determine upcoming project activity priorities.
- Work with department employees to balance resources for construction‑related activities and take advantage of manpower efficiency opportunities.
- Lead the Maintenance/Engineering Department in all phases of project development, preparation, and implementation.
- Monitor the progress of all project phases to verify accuracy of schedule and budget estimates.
- Lead the preparation of detailed project estimates/cost justifications and the development of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE’s) and other documentation for management approval of project‑related activities.
- Organize, prepare, and conduct project review and update meetings with key personnel to further develop and review project details.
- Ensure the documentation of all phases of project design, construction, and installation to verify compliance with Ergon specifications and standards, applicable design and construction codes, and industry recommended practices.
- Initiate, participate in, and ensure the completion of Management of Change (MOC) procedures, including Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for project‑related activities.
- Participate in all aspects of miscellaneous projects as necessary to meet the needs of the department.
- Actively involve employees in all business systems development, maintenance, and improvement.
- Participate in periodic management reviews of the quality system.
- Manage both daily maintenance and turnaround planning/scheduling activities.
- Identify, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance/engineering.
- Monitor accuracy of cost allocations to orders and purchase orders.
- Monitor parts warehouse inventory and approve new stock requests.
- Assist sister plants as needed with maintenance, project engineering, AFEs, and related activities.
- B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
- Five years minimum experience in a maintenance/engineering environment.
- Experience in a chemical processing or refining environment preferred.
- Self‑motivated with strong leadership, communication, and organization skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of SAP maintenance management system is ideal.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing preventative, predictive, and risk‑based maintenance programs as part of an Asset Reliability Culture.
- Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management Elements is ideal.
- Experience managing a diverse team of employees.

- Strong experience in strategic and tactical planning and implementation.
