Job Duration: 10+ Months (Possibility of extension)

Pay Rate: $80 - $82/hr. on w2 (Flexible)

$500 mobilization/demobilization one time at beginning and end of assignment.

Job Specifics:
  • This position is for a Project Manager to oversee a variety of projects at Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Hydroelectric facilities. Candidates should call out/emphasize any hydro plant experience. Station/utility experience is a requirement.
  • Located in Roanoke Rapids North Carolina, with stations approximately 11 miles apart.
  • Manage all aspects of projects assigned, such as technical, construction, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Capable of development and management of project budget and schedule, ensuring alignment with the project Product and objectives.
  • Primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of project deliverables.
  • Support the development, execution, and commissioning of the project, including adherence to safety standards, environmental standards, system turnover packages, system walkdowns, punch list management, coordination with operations, and system documentation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in project management processes and practices. Significant complex hydroelectrical projects might encompass balance of plant, retrofits, environmental initiatives, and other large-scale complex endeavours. Guides the tasks of team members to aid project-related activities.
  • Oversees the project's budget and timeline, and other duties as assigned. Regularly report the project's progress, performance, any problems, and potential risks to the Project Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain station Capital budget.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, tools and best practices, and in-depth knowledge of hydroelectric generation or general construction.
  • Exceptional skills in leading, motivating, and empowering project teams, and in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects within time, cost, and quality constraints, and to leverage project management tools and commercial/company software platforms. Ability to foster a collaborative and positive project culture, and to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve project issues and risks. Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and priorities, and able to apply agile and flexible approaches when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with contract negotiations for large scale construction or generation projects, request for proposal development, capital budgeting, and risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of power generation, hydroelectric generation, renewable technologies, construction or operation of electric generation facilities preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, and Outlook. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong self-management, self-driven experience (takes the initiative)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects covering multiple locations.
  • Ability to develop, manage, and monitor project performance, to ensure results meet project requirements, budgets, and schedules.

  • Ability to work and develop rapport with all levels of management and staff.
  • Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job: walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.
