Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

Roanoke Rapids, NC

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)

• Provide direct patient care in a general Medical/Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, utilizing a primary nursing care delivery model
• Manage and monitor patients presenting with diagnoses including stroke, GI bleed, acute kidney injury, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, CHF, diabetes, hip/ankle fractures, oncology, and post-operative care
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures including chest tube setup and care, wound vacs, thoracentesis, paracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, central line placement, CBI, CPAP/BiPAP, and incision and debridement
• Administer and monitor medications including heparin, Lasix/Bumex drips, TPN/PPN, insulin, anticoagulants, and IV cardiac medications such as Cardizem, Lopressor, and Labetalol
• Utilize EPIC for all computerized charting and documentation
• Float to other nursing areas as needed based on census and scope of practice

• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
• Current BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Proficiency in IV insertion
• Prior travel nursing experience
• Knowledge of and ability to assist providers with bedside procedures

• Experience with EPIC electronic health records
• Familiarity with equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Omni feeding pumps, and Welch-Allyn vital signs machines
• Experience caring for post-operative patients including lap cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resection cases

• Join a collaborative, team-oriented Med/Surg unit with a supportive care model including Charge Nurses and Nursing Assistants
• Gain diverse clinical exposure across a broad range of diagnoses, procedures, and patient populations in a fast-paced acute care environment
