Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nursing RN for a PCU – Progressive Care Unit assignment in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The role is a 13‑week travel assignment starting on 07/27/2026, with 36 hours per week on a 12‑hour night shift. Travel traveltype:

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
• NIHSS Certification
• Other certifications and licenses as required for the position

A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units. Responsibilities include frequent monitoring, specialized nursing interventions, medication administration, patient education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient‑centered care.

• Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data, responding to abnormalities promptly
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments, with a focus on cardiac care
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
• Observes patients, documents significant conditions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of vital status changes
• Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and cardiac emergency protocols
• Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
• Initiates patient education plans tailored to cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team for comprehensive patient care
• Maintains patient and client confidentiality
• Performs other duties within scope of practice as assigned
• Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication in English
• Proficient PC skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Physical strength to remain stationary, move about, and move equipment weighing 50–100 lbs
• Professionalism and positive attitude when interacting with diverse personnel
• Fine manipulation and operational ability with department equipment
• Capacity to manage frequent public interactions, meet deadlines under pressure, and work either under supervision or independently when required
