Practical Nursing Adjunct Faculty; Part-Time

Job Overview

Virginia Western Community College is hiring a Practical Nursing Adjunct Faculty (Part‑time) to teach in the School of Health Professions. Adjunct faculty are appointed on an as‑needed, course‑by‑course, semester basis. The position is located in Roanoke, VA and is paid $793–$1,278 per credit hour. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and be current on trends in community college education.

Deliver instruction in Practical Nursing courses in accordance with curriculum guidelines; maintain current licensure and documentation required for teaching; assist students of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds; and may be required to perform additional duties assigned by the department, including assistance in emergency situations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• A current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum two years of related nursing occupational experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, up‑to‑date computer skills, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.

• Previous teaching experience in a Practical Nursing or other nursing program.
• Experience using instructional technology.
• Experience teaching in a college setting.
