Product Manager Technical
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Product Manager to support our product and delivery teams during the execution phase of our agile lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be responsible for clarifying requirements, contributing to peer-reviewed artifacts, and serving as the face of the product during delivery. This role involves a high degree of collaboration with other PMTs, business Product Managers, Engineers, and others to ensure seamless execution and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Product Managers and delivery teams to gather, document, and clarify business requirements.
- Create, refine, and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and epics in JIRA.
- Participate in peer reviews of user stories and other documentation to ensure clarity and completeness before grooming.
- Collaborate with PMTs and engineers to validate requirements during sprints and clarify intent when questions arise.
- Proactively ask questions and surface gaps in documentation or understanding to drive product success.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams during the execution phase, ensuring product intent is carried through development.
- Help query and synthesize JIRA metrics (e.g., story closure rates, carryover items) to support decision-making and sprint retrospectives.
- Support the product team with grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives as needed.
- Contribute to the creation and ongoing refinement of best practices, including documentation standards and metrics tracking.
Core Skills/ Key area that resource quality is heavily assessed:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities are emphasized as essential for TPMs/BAs.
- The ability to understand concepts, ask clarifying questions, and quickly get acquainted with new subject matter.
- A primary skill is the ability to write high-quality user stories. This is highlighted as a core differentiator and a key area where resource quality is assessed.
- Adaptability and Learning:
Candidates should be able to adapt to Goosehead's expectations and processes, and be open to learning best practices, especially in user story writing and product management.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or in a similar role within agile software development environments.
- Strong experience with Agile tools like JIRA; able to query and extract relevant sprint data.
- Understanding of the product lifecycle, especially the execution and delivery phase.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex ideas clearly.
- Comfortable with cross-functional collaboration and flexible role boundaries.
- Ability to influence without authority and clarify vague requirements.
- Experience contributing to peer-reviewed documentation and process improvement initiatives.
Preferred
Skills:
- Experience working in highly matrixed environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping drive clarity from limited inputs.
- Background in performance tracking, product metrics, or product operations.
- Knowledge of Postman, API Integration, API Documentation/Analysis.
Fully onsite, 5 days per week (Monday-Friday) in Westlake, TX. No exceptions.
