Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000
Position OverviewAs a Level 3 Systems Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical leader in our organization. Your primary responsibilities are to provide escalation coverage for our level 1 & 2 engineers, and to assist our professional services team with planning and delivering infrastructure and security projects. Key Responsibilities- Act as escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 technicians on complex or critical issues.
- Partner with the professional services team in scoping, planning, executing, and closing technical projects.
- Design, implement, and support Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 solutions (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Azure AD, Azure VMs).
- Manage and support Windows Server environments: AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, hybrid Azure AD.
- Configure and troubleshoot networking: LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, firewall administration (e.g., Sonic Wall, Fortinet, Ubiquiti), routing, and switching.
- Maintain and optimize virtualized environments (Hyper‑V, VMware ESXi, Azure Virtual Desktop).
- Oversee backup & disaster recovery solutions.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives: MFA, EDR/XDR, Conditional Access, Zero Trust architecture, SIEM/MDR, vulnerability management.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Power Shell required; Python or other scripting a plus).
- Create and maintain documentation and process standards (IT Glue or equivalent).
- Participate in client meetings as technical subject matter, help scope solutions, and explain technical designs in business terms.
- Ensure best practices and compliance frameworks (NIST, HIPAA, CJIS) are considered and applied where required.
- 8+ years in IT, with at least 5 years in an MSP environment.
- Track record of assisting in or leading cloud migrations, infrastructure projects, and complex escalations.
- Deep expertise in Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory.
- Strong networking knowledge: VPNs, firewall configs, VLANs, routing, switching.
- Experience with virtualization platforms and desktop virtualization.
- Proven experience with backup & DR solutions.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Power Shell essential; additional languages a plus).
- Outstanding communication and client management skills.
- Ability to translate technical designs into business value and contribute to vCIO conversations.
- CompTIA Security+ / Network+ or comparable.
- Microsoft 365 Solutions Architect – Modern Work and/or Infrastructure (AZ‑104, MD‑102, MS‑700, etc.).
