The Fidelity Institutional Technology, Database Center of Excellence (COE), requires a highly competent and highly motivated Senior Database Administrator with strong technical skills to support challenging mission-critical database platforms. This position offers an opportunity to work on leading database technologies such as Oracle, Postgres, Cockroach, No
SQL, Snowflake, and more, and to experience & learn end-to-end DBA service capabilities.
- 7+ years experience in providing database design, solutioning, and engineering support to microservices/Data as a Service API development teams using SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Python, and NodeJS.
- 5+ years experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle OCI; certifications helpful) on Linux and Windows environments.
- 7+ years experience in container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- 5+ years experience in Oracle Database Administration, Performance Engineering, Resiliency Engineering, and Replication Engineering across multiple platforms – Linux and engineered systems.
- Experience managing systems using infrastructure-as-code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform, Chef).
- Experience with modern observability tools (Data Dog, Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana, etc).
- Experience in CI/CD processes, tools, testing frameworks and practices (Git Hub, Jenkins, UDeploy, JMeter).
- 1+ year experience in database performance tuning for other RDBMS/No
SQL/distributed database platforms such as Postgres, Snowflake, Cassandra, MS SQL Server, Cockroach, across multiple platforms – Linux and engineered systems. - Designing and implementing highly resilient and performant Oracle database platforms using distributed database technologies.
- Interface with agile development squads, enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security, and Capacity Planning groups as needed.
- Ability to quickly diagnose problem areas and propose solutions or workarounds.
- Self‑motivated with strong team, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Write clear, concise, and well‑organized technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures.
- Designing and implementing resilient and high‑performance cloud database platforms using distributed database technologies.
- Performing applications database administration (Oracle/Postgres/Cockroach) services including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and development support.
- Proactively monitoring database servers and responding to alerts.
- Providing database development support throughout all phases of SDLC; agile experience preferred, including logical and physical data model review, SQL performance, and data injection.
- Interface with agile development squads, enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security, and Capacity Planning groups as required.
- Fast problem diagnosis and solution implementation.
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self‑motivation and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Establishing database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations, and onboarding new applications or clients.
- Authoring clear, concise, comprehensive technical documentation for standards and procedures.
The Fidelity Institutional Technology, Database Center of Excellence (COE), delivers business‑facing database solutions that cover application/business aspects of databases, including database design, solution design, data engineering, application‑data integration, data replication, performance consulting, deployment, and support. The team provides end‑to‑end DBA services for distributed database technologies such as Oracle, Postgres, No
SQL, Snowflake, SQL Server, Cockroach, Neo4j, and MariaDB.
Fidelity is transitioning to a full‑time onsite working model through phased rollout across regions and roles. Some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others may require less. Onsite expectations may evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
