The Automation Programmer (CNC, Sigma
NEST & Robotics) is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining programs for laser cutting, tube bending, and robotic welding operations. This role uses SigmaNEST and other CAD/CAM tools to generate accurate CNC code, improve material utilization, and support efficient production workflows. The Automation Programmer works closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure high‑quality parts, smooth machine operation, and continuous process improvement.
This position is essential to maintaining productivity and supporting automated fabrication across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Sigma
NEST Programming— Create nests, cutting paths, and CNC programs for sheet metal and tube cutting.CNC Laser Programming— Develop and optimize programs for laser cutting machines (flat sheet and tube).Tube Bending Programming— Generate accurate bend programs and verify tooling requirements.Robotic Welding Programming— Create and adjust programs for welding robots (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.).CAD/CAM Integration— Import, clean, and prepare CAD files for manufacturing.Process
Optimization— Improve cycle times, material utilization, and machine efficiency.Quality Verification— Ensure programs meet dimensional and quality requirements.Troubleshooting— Diagnose and resolve programming or machine‑related issues.Collaboration— Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Sigma
NEST experience(1–3 years minimum preferred)CNC programmingfor laser cutting machines
Experience with tube bending softwareand machine setupRobotic welding programmingexperience (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, or similar)
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabricationAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings & CAD filesKnowledge of G‑code, CNC controls, and automation systems
Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D CAD software(Solid Works, Inventor, etc.)Familiarity with lean manufacturingprinciples
Background in manufacturing engineeringor industrial automationExperience integrating multiple automated processes
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor with CNC machines, welding robots, and automated equipment
