Job SummaryThe OHE Journeyman Lineman performs diversified work related to the construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the distribution of electricity, supporting the Line team and collaborating with other department personnel.
Responsibilities- Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution of electrical or power lines.
- Provide technical skills needed for the operation and maintenance of reliable electrical services, completing jobs with quality and timeliness.
- Connect, disconnect, install, and remove, move and transfer various electrical devices on customer facilities (e.g., transformers, regulator switches, capacitor banks).
- Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures.
- Inspect and/or remove damaged power lines.
- Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other operations involved in setting or replacing poles.
- Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed.
- Assist in on‑job training of apprentices and crew members in maintenance and construction of power lines.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment.
- Drive bucket truck to job site and maintain truck stock.
- Investigate consumer complaints and make repairs to energized electrical distribution lines as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of lineman experience.
- Journeyman Lineman certification.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Valid Class A CDL.
- 5 or more years of lineman experience.
- OSHA 20 certification.
This job operates in a field environment requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. Work may occur in inclement weather (extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, wind). The role is physically active with lifting up to 50 lb, requiring clear vision, precision hand‑eye coordination, and color discrimination.
