Electrical Maintenance Controls Technician

An Electrical Maintenance Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical control systems and equipment. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and systems, minimizing downtime, and adhering to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and other automated equipment.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in control systems, using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and software diagnostics.
  • Installation:
    Assist in the installation and commissioning of new control systems and equipment.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system updates.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for improving system performance and reliability, and implement solutions.
Technical Skills
  • PLC Programming:
    Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Electrical Schematics:
    Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Diagnostic Tools:
    Skilled in using diagnostic tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, IR testing and software diagnostics.
  • Automation Systems:
    Knowledge of automated control systems and components, such as sensors, actuators, and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces).
Problem-Solving Skills
  • Troubleshooting:
    Strong ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Analytical Thinking:
    Capability to analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement.
Communication Skills
  • Documentation:
    Proficiency in maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and system updates.

    Effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Safety and Compliance
  • Safety Standards:
    Understanding of and adherence to safety regulations and standards in electrical maintenance.

  • Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) Procedures:
    Capable to Keep accurate records of all LOTO activities, Identify all energy sources associated with the equipment, and Make sure the register complies with OSHA regulations and company policies

  • Manual Dexterity:
    Ability to handle tools and equipment with precision.
  • Physical Stamina:
    Capability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
  • Working on heights:
    Capability to work on heights.
Adaptability
  • Learning Agility:
    Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing work environments.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate degree or technical certification in electrical, electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in electrical maintenance of low voltage 480

    VAC and control systems, preferably in an industrial setting (Siemens, Rockwell, KUKA Automation).
  • Skills:

    Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, knowledge of PLC programming, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
