About the Role
The Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk is responsible for accurately processing vendor invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining proper financial records related to accounts payable. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely payments and supporting the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
This role is based in our Roanoke, VA office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Review, verify, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation to ensure accuracy
- Route invoices for appropriate approval in accordance with company policy
- Prepare and process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies or payment issues
- Maintain accurate and organized AP files and records
- Respond to vendor inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with month-end close by preparing AP accruals and reports
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting
- Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Net Suite, Oracle, SAP, P21, or similar ERP platforms)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to handle account discrepancies with professionalism.
