Financial Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to strengthen their finance team in East London . This position is integral to maintaining the accuracy of financial records, managing the month-end close procedures, and supporting financial analysis and reporting functions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the accounting team and management to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

• Perform general ledger reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate and balanced monthly.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Process journal entries, accruals, and prepayments accurately and efficiently.
• Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of accounting processes and internal controls.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; progress towards or completion of a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA , ACCA, CA(SA) ) is a significant advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial accounting or general accounting role.
• Solid understanding of South African accounting standards and financial reporting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
