Position Details
- Title: Administrative Assistant (Part‑time)
- Location: Roanoke County Public Schools – 5937 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24019 (Openings at other locations in the district available).
- Schedule: Part‑time, Monday–Friday; hours may vary. Details will be discussed during interview.
- Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour.
- Requirements: Previous recruitment or administrative experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
The district is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support food service programs. Responsibilities include answering telephones, maintaining personnel files, assisting with employment documents, staffing needs, record keeping for free and reduced lunch eligibility, cash handling, vendor invoice processing, financial reporting, and participation in safety meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Answer telephones and direct inquiries in a professional and client‑centric manner.
- Maintain confidential personnel files.
- Assist management staff in preparing confidential employment and labor relations documents.
- Assist with staffing, including locating staff when employees call out on short notice.
- Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co‑workers, school personnel, administrators, parents, and supervisors.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of students eligible for free and reduced‑priced lunches.
- Enter weekly cash sales and meal counts using a computer.
- Perform daily bank deposit reconciliation.
- Process vendor invoices for payment, verifying quantities and prices against bid specifications.
- Perform monthly vendor statement reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly state claim forms for reimbursement.
- Assist in preparation of end‑of‑month financial reports.
- Attend in‑service and/or safety meetings as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; perform the job safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
