A leading long-term care organization in the Roanoke, Virginia area is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Scheduling Coordinator to join its team. This confidential opportunity is ideal for a candidate who excels in staff scheduling, workforce coordination, and maintaining operational efficiency in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The Scheduling Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring appropriate staffing coverage while supporting nursing leadership, employees, residents, and overall facility operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate, maintain, and manage staff schedules for nursing and support personnel.
Monitor staffing levels to ensure compliance with facility policies, regulatory guidelines, and resident care needs.
Coordinate shift coverage for call-offs, PTO requests, leaves of absence, and open shifts.
Communicate scheduling updates promptly to employees and department leaders.
Maintain accurate scheduling and attendance records.
Track overtime, agency utilization, and staffing trends.
Collaborate with nursing leadership to address staffing challenges and implement solutions.
Ensure payroll-related scheduling information is accurate and submitted timely.
Support employee onboarding by coordinating initial schedules and orientation shifts.
Maintain confidentiality regarding staffing, employee, and organizational information.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of scheduling, staffing coordination, or workforce management experience.
Healthcare, long-term care, or skilled nursing experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency with scheduling software, timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of staffing regulations and healthcare scheduling practices is a plus.
Experience working with nursing schedules, CNA staffing, and healthcare workforce planning.
Understanding of labor management and overtime control.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to build positive relationships with staff and leadership.
