Position Summary: SFCS Inc. is seeking a driven and experienced Business Development Leader to lead strategic growth and client engagement efforts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This individual will play a critical role in identifying new opportunities, developing long-term client relationships, and strengthening our presence in key markets including Senior Living, Higher Education, Veteran and Civic projects.
In addition to strong business acumen and relationship-building skills, experience in project management within architecture, engineering, or interior design is a plus and will help ensure a deeper understanding of client and project needs across the full lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Market Development
- Design and implement a targeted business development strategy for the Mid-Atlantic region that aligns with firm-wide objectives.
- Identify and pursue new project and client opportunities through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and industry visibility.
- Focus on long‑term, relationship‑based pursuits that complement SFCS's portfolio and areas of expertise.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regional client development, ensuring a high level of engagement and responsiveness.
- Attend conferences, regional events, and client meetings to increase awareness of SFCS's brand and capabilities.
- Actively support early‑stage project planning discussions and client presentations.
- Collaborate with Principals, Marketing, and Project Managers to develop customized proposal responses, pitch materials, and interview preparation strategies.
- Participate in go/no‑go decisions for pursuits in the region, offering strategic input based on market knowledge and client dynamics.
- Work with leadership and marketing team to align BD efforts with project delivery capacity and regional staffing.
- Conduct ongoing competitive analysis and track key market trends, RFQs, and RFPs within the region.
- Maintain CRM data and report regularly on lead status, pursuit outcomes, and target metrics.
- 10+ years of experience in business development, client relations, or a related role within the AEC industry.
- Strong understanding of the Mid‑Atlantic architecture and construction landscape; existing network within Senior Living, Higher Education, Veteran and/or Civic industries are a plus.
- Proven success in securing new business, building strategic partnerships, and leading high‑value pursuits.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally in a dynamic, deadline‑driven environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Marketing, or related field required.
- Self‑starter with entrepreneurial energy and a client‑first mindset.
- Professional presence and comfort engaging with executive‑level clients.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution.
- Familiarity with CRM tools, pursuit tracking systems, and marketing collaboration platforms.
