Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site walks and field inspections to proactively identify and address safety issues.
- Collaborate with the Safety Director and client representatives to communicate safety matters and ensure alignment on safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1926 and all applicable federal and state safety regulations.
- Participate in project meetings to address and resolve safety concerns with project staff.
- Report all incidents promptly and accurately, and assist in incident investigations.
- Advise on non-compliance issues and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Lead daily safety meetings and provide ongoing coaching to field staff to reinforce safety expectations.
- Develop and recommend safety programs, policies, and processes tailored to construction site needs.
- Orient new hires to the site safety program and ensure completion of all required safety documentation.
- Prepare site-specific safety plans and manage pre-task planning and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) programs.
- Conduct safety-related training sessions and classes for employees.
- Support jobsite compliance with all relevant health and safety standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on behavioral-based safety programs and safety leadership.
- Experience in heavy civil construction projects, including confined space and trenching & excavation safety.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state occupational safety regulations, as well as ANSI, NFPA, and NEC standards.
- OSHA 510 certification required; OSHA 500/502 preferred.
- Competency as a trainer for Fall Protection, Excavation, and Trenching.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to write clear reports and correspondence.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends or nights as project needs require.
