E.C. Pace Company is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our growing company. This is an entry-level opportunity ideal for a recent college graduate or someone with less than two years of experience who is interested in building a career in heavy civil construction. The Junior Estimator will support the estimating and preconstruction team with quantity take-offs, bid preparation, and identifying project-specific requirements for a variety of civil construction projects.
Dutiesof this position Bidding and Estimating
- Assist with estimating and bidding construction projects by performing detailed quantity take-offs and organizing bid information.
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify project-specific requirements.
- Help establish a clear understanding of self-perform and subcontractor scopes for each project.
- Communicate both internally with estimating staff and externally with project owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather information, ask questions, and obtain clarifications.
- Support the solicitation and comparison of subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Work with the estimating team to help ensure project costs, scope details, and bid requirements are accurately captured.
- Prepare, distribute, and monitor preconstruction submittals to support timely review and approval.
- Draft, issue, and evaluate subcontracts to help ensure construction compliance, scope clarity, and contract readiness.
- Assist with acquiring any project specific off-site facilities. This includes preparing property agreements and permit coordination.
- Assist construction staff with change orders and cost-related questions during construction.
- Assist in the development of critical path method construction schedules and coordinate with construction staff and outside consultants.
This position will have the opportunity to spend time in the field learning the various aspects of the work and the means and methods used during construction. Field duties will include monitoring progress and tracking costs to better understand the overall estimating and budgeting process.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- 0–2 years of estimating, construction, internship, or related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn estimating processes and systems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong math and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with guidance from senior team members.
