Parking Assistant - Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital

Overview

The Parking Assistant provides safety, assistance and information to patients, guests and staff entering or exiting the facility including valet parking services and traffic control. The Parking Assistant manages flow of traffic at each major point of entry to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.

• Direct patient transport vans, delivery vehicles, hotel shuttles, funeral homes and cab companies to designated parking areas.
• Greet, direct and offer assistance to patients and guests as they enter and exit parking areas.
• Cross‑train in all parking areas.
• Notify nurses when a patient arrives.
• Operate shuttle service for patients, guests and staff to and from various Carilion facilities.
• Drive, inspect and manage maintenance for all vehicles.
• Provide after‑hours transportation for special groups or tours.
• Park and retrieve vehicles for patients, guests with special needs and special guests such as executives or celebrities.
• Drive vehicles to overflow lot as needed.
• Issue valet tickets and document vehicle information, patient information, claim numbers and key storage.
• Track and report daily ticket count for Guest Services.
• Patrol campus and contact police for urgent safety situations regarding locked cars, flat tires, dead batteries, lost vehicles, fire drills and code red alerts.
• De‑escalate situations occurring in parking areas with hostile guests.
• Direct and position vehicles to avoid disruption of traffic flow at entrance.

• High school graduate or GED.
• Two years related experience in customer service or parking.
• Valid Virginia operator’s license and adherence to the Qualified Drivers Guidelines and Eligibility Standards.
• Strong communication skills, hospitality, calm demeanor, tact, diplomacy and professionalism in all situations.
