Position Details:
Patient Population: Neonatal
Setting: Hospital-based NICU coverage at two facilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide neonatal care at Carilion Clinic Children s Hospital (60-bed regional perinatal center) and Lewis Gale Medical Center (6-bed Level II NICU)
- Serve as NICU Medical Director or Associate Medical Director with oversight of clinical and operational performance
- Manage advanced neonatal therapies including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine, and pediatric surgery teams
- Participate in education and mentoring of medical students and residents
- Engage in quality improvement and research initiatives
- Provide day coverage with on-call and weekend responsibilities
Required Procedures: Advanced NICU and critical care neonatal management
EMR System: Not specified
Support Staff:
- 10 Neonatologists
- 5 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
- Multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialty support
Days Per Month: Full-time
On-Call/Weekends: Required
Submission Requirements:
- Board Eligible (within 5 years) or Board Certified in Neonatology
- Active Virginia license or willingness to obtain
- DEA prior to start
- NPDB Self Query within 30 days
- Clean malpractice/license history preferred
- Must reside locally or willing to relocate
- J1 visa support available (J1 only)
- Neonatal leadership experience required for Medical Director role
