After School Recreation Assistant
The City of Roanoke is seeking an After School Recreation Assistant to lead and facilitate youth development and recreation programs for elementary school age children through the Department's After‑School PLAY program.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement fitness, movement, art, nature study, crafts activities, and assist children with homework assignments.
- Create new and creative programs, build and maximize neighborhood and community relations.
- Collect registration documents, write receipts, make deposits, and complete assignments on computer.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children, parents, and staff.
- High school graduation or equivalent, with at least one year experience in a day‑care or after‑school setting.
- Knowledge of youth development and community activities.
- Certification: ARC Standard First Aid and CPR (required upon request).
Position is during the regular school year, expected to work approximately 20–25 hours per week.
