Information System Technology Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time Information Systems Technology (IST) Adjunct Faculty in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. ISTadjunct faculty are needed to teach college-level courses in-person on the main Virginia Western campus, as well as hybrid or distance learning/online courses.

Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. In addition, faculty are expected to be active participants in departmental communication. Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis. Review of applications will occur when an adjunct faculty need arises and will continue until needed positions are filled.

Two years of related occupational experience. Educational requirements depend on the course(s) being taught:
Transfer courses require a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Information Systems Technology (IST), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field. Other Information Systems Technology courses require a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology (IST), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field. All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;

ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Master's degree in the teaching field. Experience teaching in a college setting. Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations. Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online. Occupational experience and current certifications in the topic of interest.
