Overview

We are currently accepting resumes for an Engineer Sr position in Roanoke, VA. This position is onsite. Benefits offered:
Medical, Vision, Dental, 401 K. Transmission Line Engineer Sr. 40 hour work week. Flex schedule- 4x 10hr or 5x 8hr. No OT expected. Possible site visits but overnight travel is not expected.

Responsibilities and qualifications reflect the requirements for a senior transmission line engineer role with leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise:
    Demonstrates journey level proficiency plus advanced knowledge to lead within the organization. Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment. Understands interrelationships between systems and component equipment. Interprets codes and regulations and develops standards relevant to the area of assignment.
  • Leadership & Guidance:
    Provides guidance and exercises judgment in directing other engineers. Leads, facilitates and coordinates work activities of others within the work group, department, or external teams as required. Ensures compliance with company policies, standards, and external regulatory procedures. Promotes engineering professionalism and conducts training sessions as needed.
  • Planning & Organization:
    Participates in developing plans with measurable goals and requirements. Coordinates input to establish projected project costs. Proficient with scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts) for budgeting and planning. Identifies and initiates corrective actions when objectives are not being met.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative:
    Identifies, clarifies, resolves and initiates solutions to routine and complex problems, including analysis of inadequate or conflicting data. Breaks problems into component steps and develops new ideas and approaches.
  • Communication:
    Coordinates work of engineers and prepares clear reports on complex technical subjects for management, professional societies, regulatory bodies, etc. Leads and facilitates meetings effectively.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Demonstrates collaboration and consensus-building. Functions as a team leader and member; networks across disciplines inside and outside the client system to achieve objectives.
  • Decision Making:
    Makes decisions based on analysis of uncertain input and outcomes. Uses diverse approaches when a definite framework or precedents are lacking. Assesses risks and impacts on department operations and major projects.
  • Business Awareness:
    Understands client goals and how decisions affect unit outcomes. Manages project budgets and understands how decisions impact expenses and revenues. Demonstrates awareness of profitability and growth opportunities for clients.
Qualifications
  • Trans Line Engineering experience required.
  • Function as a Lead SME on multiple topics.
  • Mentor and train personnel as requested.
  • Experience and knowledge of trans line design, structure modeling, plan, and profile development.
  • Knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and current industry standards.
  • Proficiency with PLS CADD line design software.
  • Prior experience in structural design, foundation design and/or surveying preferred.
  • Minimum requirements:

    Typically 6+ years of Transmission Line engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or 4 years of related engineering experience with a Master's or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program. PE licensure in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred. ABET references and alternative qualifications are described in the original posting.
