Senior Substation Engineer

Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to develop detailed technical training plans and content for Station Engineering. The training will cover tasks ranging from entry-level to advanced line engineering work, helping build technical expertise across the team.

This position offers exposure to multiple substation engineering disciplines, leadership opportunities, and collaboration with project managers, designers, field personnel, and other internal teams.

Training & Technical Leadership

• Develop detailed training plans and content for Station Engineering.
• Cover topics including substation physical design, capital projects, grounding, lightning shielding, lighting studies, and station configuration/layouts.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide guidance to junior engineers and other staff.
• Mentor and provide leadership as requested.

Project & Design Support

• Assist project managers with station engineering activities and deliverables within Primavera P6 schedules.
• Review work performed by internal designers or consulting engineering firms.
• Provide support to construction and field personnel to resolve technical issues during project execution.
• Prepare project construction documents including plan/profile drawings, design drawings, engineering and material specifications, schedules, and bills of materials.
• Develop design alternatives and cost estimates for proposed projects.

Communication & Collaboration

• Work effectively with internal teams, customers, government/regulatory agencies, and contractors to secure permits and refine designs.
• Monitor project expenditures and schedules, participate in bid and construction meetings, and provide schedule and progress updates.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience: 4–6+ years of substation or related engineering experience.
• Professional Licensure: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico encouraged and preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and current industry standards.
• Competence with AutoCAD desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• Ability to learn new software applications as needed.
• Training development experience is a plus.

Alternative Education Paths:

• Non-ABET Bachelor's degree + PE license, or
• Non-ABET Bachelor's degree + Master’s degree from an ABET-accredited program.

• Onsite position in Roanoke, New Albany, or Tulsa.
• Flexible schedule within standard workweek (no OT expected).
• Possible site visits, but overnight travel not required.
• Must collaborate with project management, substation design, distribution, supply chain, and right-of-way teams.
