Position OverviewThe Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE preferred) plays a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of power transformer systems and related mechanical components.
This is a highly hands‑on, plant‑connected role supporting engineering execution, manufacturing, and continuous improvement across our transformer product lines. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams including electrical engineering, production, quality, and field service to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
This role requires onsite presence at one of our core manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design and engineering of transformer components including:
- Tanks, enclosures, and structural assemblies
- Cooling systems (radiators, fans, pumps)
- Bushings, mounting systems, and mechanical supports
- Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Perform structural, thermal, and mechanical analysis to ensure product integrity and performance
- Partner closely with manufacturing teams to:
- Improve manufacturability and reduce cost
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Collaborate with supply chain on material selection, vendor qualification, and cost optimization
- Support new product development and customization for Data Center, Utility, and Industrial customers
- Provide technical support for field issues, installations, and customer inquiries
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across design, materials, and production processes
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
- On‑time, high‑quality engineering deliverables supporting production schedules
- Reduction in design‑related manufacturing issues and rework
- Improved product reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Successful execution of custom and standard transformer designs
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration and plant support
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- 7–15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in:
- Heavy manufacturing
- Power equipment, transformers, switch gear, or similar industrial products
- Strong experience with:
- Structural and thermal analysis
- CAD tools (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Design for manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Knowledge of industry standards (IEEE, ASME, ANSI) strongly preferred
- Experience working in a plant-based or manufacturing environment
- Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills
- Hands‑on, execution‑focused engineer who thrives on the plant floor
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for engineering outcomes
- Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication across engineering and operations
- Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and performance
- Onsite role at one of the following locations:
- Rincon, GA
- Occasional travel between facilities as needed
