Manager of Field Services

The Manager of Field Services will lead and oversee a team responsible for managing and executing field service projects. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating field operations to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and meet customer specifications. The Manager of Field Services must possess strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Field Operations Leadership
  • Lead and manage cross-functional field service teams responsible for the installation, assembly, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of power and distribution transformers
    .
  • Oversee execution across utility, industrial, and substation environments, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
    .
  • Mentor and develop field personnel, driving a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence
    .
Project Planning & Execution
  • Plan and execute field service projects, including outage coordination, site readiness, scheduling, and resource allocation
    .
  • Define scope of work and delegate responsibilities across internal teams, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure alignment and execution throughout the full project lifecycle, from mobilization through closeout.
Technical Oversight & Field Support
  • Oversee critical field activities, including oil processing (vacuum fill, degassing), dry‑out procedures, assembly, testing, and energization support
    .
  • Support and lead field testing and diagnostics (TTR, insulation resistance, power factor, DGA), and coordinate troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Partner with engineering to resolve complex technical issues encountered in the field.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and job forecasts for field service projects.
  • Monitor actual vs. planned costs and drive corrective actions to ensure profitability and cost control
    .
  • Support business development by identifying service opportunities and contributing to proposals and customer solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during project execution, managing communication, expectations, and issue resolution
    .
  • Act as liaison between customers, engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements and deliverables.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
  • Lead risk assessments and safety planning
    , ensuring adherence to OSHA, utility, and company safety standards.
  • Ensure all field service activities comply with IEEE, ANSI, IEC standards
    , contractual requirements, and internal quality expectations.
  • Identify risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies to protect project execution and company interests.
