The maintenance planning/scheduling function is the central position from which all planned maintenance activity is coordinated. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for scheduling preventive and regular maintenance with minimal interruption to production operations. In this capacity, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance and Operations units and other supporting departments in relation to determining the timing for execution of planned maintenance work.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler assists Operations units balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through proactive maintenance practices.
- Manages the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and supports other staff in effectively and efficiently utilizing the CMMS.
- Identifies and facilitates improvements to the performance of the CMMS; utilizes reporting and analysis tools to leverage CMMS functionality.
- Coordinate with Operations teams to identify critical system components and required performance and minimum acceptable thresholds across systems to inform work prioritization within the CMMS.
- Ensure minimum acceptable levels of stock / replacement parts are in inventory for all critical equipment.
- Investigate maintenance-related problems, analyze root causes and drive resolutions.
- Provide maintenance support for Capital planning and engineering activities to ensure optimum results.
- Coordinates with the Electrical and Mechanical Superintendents to ensure compliance with proper safety, quality and environmental requirements within maintenance work.
Supervises Maintenance Warehouse Operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS- Must be able to identify and prioritize multiple projects and perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes.
- Demonstrated capability to analyze and troubleshoot operational and equipment problems and provide reasonable and accurate recommendations and solutions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals; ability to present complex situations in a concise manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Federal / State EPA and OSHA compliance standards.
- Ability to build partnerships across and between functional groups and plan complex projects.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from employees and customers orally or in writing as necessary.
- Ability to represent assigned area in meetings attended.
- Ability to identify problems and/or conflict and seek management assistance in dealing with problems and/or conflicts.
- Ability to analyze and solve technical and administrative problems.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as facility drawings, manufacturers operation and maintenance manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals in a clear concise manner.
- Working knowledge of Water and Wastewater plant equipment (pumps, piping, chemical storage and feed, tanks, unit processes, vessels, instrumentation, etc.).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Water Authority departments and the general public.
- Must possess and maintain a good work ethic with a strong emphasis on good attendance, reporting to work on time, completing job assignments in a timely manner, performing all job duties as assigned and/or scheduled.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair of equipment in order to effectively assist in planning maintenance activities.
High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related discipline preferred. At least five (5) years of industrial experience in water wastewater plant or other manufacturing/industry maintenance experience and three (3) years maintenance planner / scheduler experience.
CERTIFICATE, LICENSE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS- Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license. No more than six (6) demerit points on driving record if required to drive Water Authority vehicles.
- Certification to run specialized equipment.
