The Controls Specialist – Corporate Coordinator is responsible for standardizing, developing, and optimizing electrical control systems and processes across VTC manufacturing operations. This role serves as a technical leader supporting plant operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, improving product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives related to control systems, electrical connections, and automation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, standardize, and implement control system processes across multiple manufacturing facilities
- Ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA 70, UL/CE, and IEC standards in all control-related designs and processes
- Support programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical control systems and automation
- Define and validate electrical connections, control components, and system architectures
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve product performance and manufacturability
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for control system failures or quality issues
- Evaluate and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, FMEA, and APQP methodologies
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and work instructions
- Conduct audits, inspections, and validation of control systems and manufacturing processes
- Support new product/process development including testing, validation, and implementation
- Train and mentor plant personnel on control systems, processes, and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics Engineering
, or related field - Minimum 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering
- Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, digital and analog electronics
- Experience with process development, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, UL/CE, and IEC standards
- Proven experience applying root cause analysis methodologies
- Bilingual:
English (B2/C1) and conversational Spanish - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with controls testing, functional validation, and routing audits
- Knowledge of materials such as conductors, sensors, terminals, and control components
- Familiarity with quality management systems and process auditing
- Experience with metrology, calibration, and validation of measurement systems
- Background in training, instruction, or technical development
- Exposure to transformer manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- Leadership: Ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across teams
- Strategic Thinking: Systems-level perspective across design, production, and customer requirements
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset with structured troubleshooting approach
- Communication: Ability to effectively train, guide, and empower shop floor personnel
- Adaptability: Resilient in dynamic manufacturing environments and change management
