Manager Of Transportation

The City of Roanoke's Transportation Division is seeking a Manager of Transportation to direct, plan and coordinate the operation of the Transportation Division engaged in long range transportation programs, construction and maintenance of streets, paving, sidewalks, landscape maintenance, permitting for events and activities in the right of way, street signs, pavement marking, street lights, traffic signals and snow removal. Responsibilities entail accountability based on measurable cost effective results for the substance, efficiency, productivity and quality of activities performed within assigned division.

Establishes objectives, plans and evaluates operations and the overall effectiveness of the division's services. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with major in civil engineering or related field; five to ten years' experience in construction and maintenance of streets or related facilities and considerable managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a Professional Engineer's license issued by the State of Virginia or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
