Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Process and disburse all Home Equity products in a timely manner. Image, document, process, and coordinate flow of all appropriate loan documentation within the current loan system. Maintain consistent contact with members during the loan process. Review all loan approval terms and ensure accurate information for closing and disbursement. Analyze applicable property/collateral valuations, various sources of income and employment verification, and property title reports in accordance with loan approval requirements.
Process required documentation to ensure acceptance of any loan approval conditions prior to closing. Make appropriate recommendations to help members meet their financial goals.
- Inform, educate, and advise members. Communicate loan decisions, answer questions, and guide members through next steps/options.
- Process all Home Equity products in conformity with all applicable federal and state regulations as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of all required loan documents, product‑related lending documents and all applicable operating systems.
- Review loan terms with members to ensure accuracy and obtain member acceptance.
- Review requests to ensure proper set‑up and documentation is completed prior to disbursement.
- Ensure all verifications, closing requirements, and stipulations are met prior to closing.
- Disburse all Home Equity products in conformity with all applicable federal and state regulations as well as VACU internal policy and procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge of processes with outside vendors utilized as it relates to processing of applicable loan products.
- Send, receive, and process inbound/outbound information from all sources including mail, fax, loan systems, and electronic mail.
- Perform all skill sets relative to applicable loan products.
- Ensure application follow‑up with internal and external members is done efficiently and professionally.
- Provide support to other areas during times of high volumes.
- Ensure teamwork within the department and promote internal quality service with other areas of the credit union.
- Make recommendations to enhance workflow, system processes and efficiencies.
- Assist in training of less experienced processors.
- Contribute toward individual, team and department goals while promoting team spirit.
- Use cross‑selling techniques and lending knowledge to discuss additional products and services.
- Maintain positive and open communication to ensure processing and disbursement in a timely manner.
- Comply with all published enterprise‑level policies and procedures, including risk management policies.
- Complete all required, ongoing enterprise‑level training, including BSA, OFAC, and Information Security.
- Report all risk management policy violations in accordance with policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Accommodate flexible schedule, including Saturdays, overtime and/or extended hours.
- Ability to work independently and collectively within a team environment.
- Open‑minded and flexible to change.
- Proficient knowledge of financial products, services, policies and regulatory guidelines is required.
- Applicable knowledge of credit union policies, processes, and procedures with the ability to apply them appropriately is preferred.
- Considerable experience with processing and disbursements of Home Equity products is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment is required.
- Excellent PC knowledge and ability to learn new operating systems as needed.
- Strong time‑management skills and a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively (internal and external member service skills) is required.
- Strong organizational skills and multi‑tasking skills are required.
- Sound judgment and analytical skills are required.
- Ability to handle stressful or difficult situations in a calm and professional manner.
- High school degree required.
- College degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Must be able to be actively registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Infrequent lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds.
