Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an RN with ventilator experience for a night shift Progressive Care Unit position requiring active VA or compact licensure and EPIC charting proficiency.
Responsibilities- Work in a general Progressive Care Unit with 10 PCU beds and 2 ICU beds
- Patient population includes vent/trach dependent individuals, DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, and chronic respiratory and renal failure
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Night shifts are 3x12s from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or six shifts in a six-week schedule block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Uses EPIC EMR and experience with EPIC is required
- Remote telemetry is used and tele sitting is implemented
- Floating required within skillset to similar units
- Role includes providing comprehensive care to chronic trach and vent patients
- Will be exposed to a hybrid unit environment with both PCU and ICU level care
- Team implements remote monitoring and utilizes Patient Care Techs for enhanced coverage
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Must be willing to float as needed across similar units
- Holiday coverage is required as assigned
- Active VA or compact RN license is required (pending license accepted for non-compact single state only)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum required skills include ventilator care, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and respiratory support
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, and administration of cardiac drips (no titration)
- Ability to activate rapid response and code teams and manage isolation precautions
- Experience with telemetry in PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown settings
- EPIC charting experience is required
