Job Overview

Medical Assistant – Certified – Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Clinic (Part time, Day shift)

Location:

2001 Crystal Spring Ave, Roanoke, VA. Work hours Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

• Collect patient assessment data (height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint, medications, etc.) for licensed staff review.
• Transport patients within the office and prepare them for provider evaluation.
• Assist with specimen collection, prep, labeling, and lab procedures.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs, audiograms, vision testing, and spirometry as directed.
• Assist with referral authorizations, pre‑authorization for testing, and ancillary services.
• Greet patients and assist with check‑in/check‑out procedures, schedule appointments, and update patient records.
• Utilize electronic medical records and automated computer systems; maintain a clean, safe work area and sterilize reusable equipment.
• Assist with administering oral and parenteral medications as authorized.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant Certification from a nationally recognized professional association (e.g., AAMAS, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, NHA); provisional status allowed pending certification exam.
• AHA BLS‑HCP certification required.
• Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Computer proficiency with electronic medical records and automated computer systems.
