Job Description

As a Pharmacy Tech, you'll assist pharmacists with dispensing medications, managing inventory, preparing medication orders, and handling administrative tasks, all while working overnight shifts in a pharmacy setting.

The Certified Pharmacy Technician II works under the lead supervision of a Pharmacist to provide services to pharmacy customers. The Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care. Specific job duties and responsibilities vary based on the location and type of pharmacy. The technician routinely interacts with pharmacists, other pharmacy technicians, nursing staff, physicians, patients, customers, vendors, and drug company representatives.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred. Successful completion of Pharmacy Service Line competencies within 6 months of hire.

Experience: Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred. One year of pharmacy experience is required for Registrar I.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals is required. Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is required within 9 months of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000–2000) of medications and focus on attention to detail/accuracy.
• Must be customer service oriented.
• Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard.
• Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment.
• Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
• All technicians must complete orientation competencies.
