About the Role
The Night Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth financial and operational functioning of a hotel during overnight hours. This position is responsible for accurately reconciling daily financial transactions, auditing guest accounts, and preparing detailed reports that support management decision-making. The Night Auditor acts as the primary point of contact for guests during the night shift, providing exceptional customer service and addressing any issues that arise.
This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Ultimately, the Night Auditor helps maintain the integrity of the hotel's financial records while contributing to a positive guest experience during off-peak hours.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reconciliation.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) or similar software.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work overnight shifts independently and responsibly.
- Associate degree or higher in hospitality management, accounting, or related field.
- Previous experience as a Night Auditor or in a similar hospitality role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for reporting purposes.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with hotel security and safety procedures.
- Perform nightly audit of all hotel financial transactions, including room charges, payments, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile daily revenue and prepare detailed audit reports for management review.
- Process guest check-ins and check-outs during overnight hours, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns during the night shift.
- Monitor hotel security and safety protocols, reporting any irregularities or incidents to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and communications during the shift.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to resolve discrepancies and support operational needs.
The Night Auditor utilizes strong analytical and numerical skills daily to accurately reconcile financial transactions and identify discrepancies. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with guests and coordinating with other hotel departments to resolve issues promptly.
