Job DetailsJob Title: Immigration Specialist
Reports To: Senior Director of HR / HR Leadership
About the RoleVirginia Transformer Corporation (VTC) is seeking an experienced Immigration Specialist to manage and support all employment-based immigration activities across the United States and select international locations. This role is critical to enabling VTC’s aggressive growth strategy by ensuring timely, compliant, and well-managed work authorization for professional, technical, and leadership talent.
The Immigration Specialist will serve as the internal subject-matter expert for U.S. employment-based immigration, partnering closely with Talent Acquisition, HR, Legal, business leaders, and external immigration counsel. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to operate confidently in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Immigration Case Management
- Manage the full lifecycle of employment-based immigration cases, including but not limited to H-1B, TN, L-1, O-1, E-3, F-1 OPT/STEM OPT, PERM, I-140, and I-485 processes.
- Coordinate case strategy, documentation, and filings with external immigration counsel.
- Track case timelines, expirations, RFEs, approvals, and renewals to ensure uninterrupted work authorization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and candidates regarding immigration status, timelines, and next steps.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with U.S. immigration laws, DHS/USCIS regulations, DOL requirements, and internal company policies.
- Support and audit Form I-9 and E-Verify processes in partnership with HR and Compliance teams.
- Maintain accurate and confidential immigration records in accordance with data privacy and record retention requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and proactively advise leadership on immigration risk, policy updates, and workforce impact.
- Stakeholder & Employee Support
- Provide clear guidance to candidates, employees, recruiters, and hiring managers on immigration eligibility, sponsorship pathways, and timing considerations.
- Support relocation and onboarding processes for foreign national hires in partnership with TA, HR Operations, and Global Mobility resources.
- Respond to employee inquiries with empathy, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Process Improvement & Reporting
- Develop and maintain standardized immigration workflows, tracking tools, and documentation templates.
- Prepare reports and dashboards on immigration volume, case status, costs, and upcoming needs for HR and executive leadership.
