Marketing AnalystReports To: Sr. Director of Marketing
Role Purpose
The Marketing Analyst at Virginia Transformer is responsible for transforming market data, customer insights, competitive intelligence, and industry trends into actionable strategic insight that informs executive decision-making across product strategy, brand positioning, market entry, investment prioritization, and growth planning.
This role serves as the market intelligence engine of the organization — enabling Virginia Transformer to anticipate changes in grid modernization, electrification, data center demand, utility investment cycles, and competitive dynamics, and to proactively shape strategy rather than react to the market.
Key ObjectivesThe Marketing Analyst will:
- Establish a fact-based understanding of the market (size, growth, structure, trends, risks).
- Provide early warning signals on market shifts, competitor movements, and customer priorities.
- Enable leadership to make informed decisions on:
- Where to invest
- Which markets to prioritize
- Which segments offer the highest long-term value
- How Virginia Transformer should position and differentiate
- Track and analyze macro and sector-specific trends including:
- Grid modernization and transmission investment
- Electrification and decarbonization
- Data center, AI, and hyperscale infrastructure demand
- Utility capex cycles and regulatory drivers
- Monitor and synthesize inputs from:
- Utilities, EPCs, developers, and OEMs
- Industry publications, analyst reports, standards bodies, and trade associations
- Develop forward-looking views of where the transformer market is headed over 1–3–5-year horizons.
- Develop and maintain:
- TAM / SAM / SOM models by product line, voltage class, region, and end-market
- Customer and application segmentation frameworks
- Identify and quantify:
- Underserved or emerging applications
- White-space and adjacency opportunities
- Maintain structured competitive profiles on key competitors (product portfolios, pricing, positioning, capacity, geographic reach, M&A activity).
- Track competitive wins/losses, market entries, plant expansions, and technology investments.
- Develop competitive heat maps and positioning frameworks.
- Design and analyze:
- Brand awareness and brand preference studies
- Customer loyalty and satisfaction tracking
- Translate findings into implications for:
- Brand strategy
- Messaging and thought leadership
