Business Intelligence Specialist

Overview

Business Intelligence Specialist (Evergreen) opening – full time day shift for the Carilion Clinic, located at 213 S Jefferson St, Roanoke, VA. This role supports the transformation of healthcare by managing data, reporting, and analytics for internal and external stakeholders.

• Work with Epic and non‑Epic tools, content, data sources and processes to provide actionable information.
• Prepare reports and dashboards for internal and external clients to assist business decisions.
• Use best practices for tool selection and client access.
• Create reports and databases of minor or moderate complexity with supervision.
• Ensure data completeness, correctness, consistency, security and integrity.
• Coordinate validation and testing of solutions to meet end‑user workflow.
• Collaborate with directors, managers, end users, statistical programmers, and technical staff on data acquisition, analysis, reporting, consulting and training.
• Participate in all phases of the software lifecycle—analysis, development, testing, documentation, and implementation.
• Follow Change Management policies, including reporting changes, communications, contingency planning, event support, and post‑change reporting.
• Identify technical requirements with clients.
• Document and maintain product documentation such as functional summaries, diagrams, and flowcharts.
• Support reporting and analytic product use and upgrades for clients.
• Assist in automating manual processes.
• Create a collaborative team environment and identify/escape issues to leadership.
• Work is closely managed; telecommuting is permitted.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in the position offered or related occupation.
