About The OpportunityOur client, an established employee-owned manufacturer and integrator of custom mission-critical infrastructure solutions
, is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join its Roanoke operation.
This is a newly created position designed to help transform the purchasing function from primarily transactional buying into a more strategic, data-driven sourcing operation.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will analyze purchasing activity, consolidate demand, negotiate supplier agreements, strengthen vendor relationships, improve supplier performance, and help ensure material availability across project-based manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies that support project-based manufacturing operations
- Analyze purchasing activity to identify opportunities for volume leverage, supplier consolidation, and cost savings
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers
- Manage relationships with existing vendors and serve as a key contact for pricing, service, capacity, and performance
- Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, payment terms, delivery commitments, and service agreements
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and reliability
- Lead supplier performance reviews and coordinate corrective actions when expectations are not met
- Partner with production planning and purchasing teams to maintain material availability
- Use purchasing and supplier data to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and sourcing performance
- Strengthen supplier relationships to support long-term operational and business needs
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience
- Demonstrated success negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships
- Strong understanding of material planning, inventory, manufacturing, and supply chain principles
- Ability to analyze purchasing activity and identify cost-saving and supplier consolidation opportunities
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and relationship-management skills
- Ability to collaborate with purchasing, production planning, operations, and external suppliers
- Experience supporting manufacturing, construction, industrial, or project-based operations
- Experience developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives
- Background in supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance management
- Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery commitments
- Familiarity with complex or custom manufacturing environments
- Competitive Compensation: $90, base salary plus benefits
