Position Title:
Program Manager – Projects Team
Location: Roanoke, VA (with travel to manufacturing facilities)
Reports To: Director of Projects / Senior Program Leadership
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Program Manager – Projects Team is responsible for leading and coordinating complex, cross-functional projects within Virginia Transformer Corp’s custom transformer manufacturing environment. This role ensures projects are executed on time, within scope, and aligned with customer requirements, operational capabilities, and business objectives.
The Program Manager serves as the central point of accountability across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics, and commercial teams, driving disciplined execution and proactive risk management for high-value, customer-critical programs.
Key Responsibilities- Own end-to-end program execution for assigned transformer projects, from order handoff through delivery and closeout.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact coordinating across engineering, operations, procurement, quality, and logistics.
- Lead regular project reviews and cross-functional meetings to track progress, resolve issues, and manage dependencies.
- Align internal teams on scope, timelines, resource requirements, and customer expectations.
- Escalate risks and constraints early with clear mitigation plans.
- Monitor project schedules, production timelines, and critical path activities.
- Track program-level costs, change orders, and scope adjustments in coordination with commercial and finance teams.
- Identify, assess, and manage program risks related to materials, capacity, engineering changes, and customer requirements.
- Partner with sales, project management, and customer-facing teams to support clear communication and expectation management.
- Support customer meetings, progress updates, and issue resolution as needed.
- Ensure customer requirements are clearly documented, communicated, and executed internally.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Projects team.
- Help define and standardize program management tools, templates, and best practices.
- Contribute to lessons learned and post-project reviews to improve future execution.
- Maintain accurate program status reporting, dashboards, and documentation.
- Track KPIs related to on-time delivery, execution quality, and program performance.
- Provide regular updates to project leadership and senior stakeholders.
