Job Duties

Director of Plant Operations is responsible for supervising all maintenance and ground activities so that the departments assure the physical plant is efficiently operated and grounds properly maintained. This includes sound planning, directing the workforce, controlling cost, and maintaining sound organizational relationships. The Director shall take any action necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years in a health care setting; preferably seven years with extensive experience in three or four trades.
  • Certified commercial applicator for turf and ornamental applications.
  • Current certificate for Fertilizer Applicator.
  • General knowledge of all systems.
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in Maintenance Activities, VCCO/Facility Construction, Facility Emergencies, and Facility Emergency Life Safety.
  • Ability to approve and write staff policy/procedures for the Maintenance Department.
Additional Considerations

Must be able to transport residents from floor to floor or outside the facility using elevators and/or stairs due to the multi‑level facility.

Salary determination for current state employees follows the current state compensation plan.
