Ballyhack Golf Club is seeking a highly motivated leader to join our management team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Direct and implement policies and procedures established by Dormie Network
- Supervises and manages the upkeep of the golf course property which includes the course, maintenance equipment, golf car fleet, recreation facilities, open spaces, wooded areas, and unused acreage.
- Supervise crews performing daily maintenance and special projects
- Assist with manual labor and project work as needed
- Train equipment operators on proper operation and care of mowing and maintenance equipment
- Supervise pesticide applications and calibrate application equipment as needed
- Assist in operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, pumps, and drainage systems
- Hire, train, and mentor department staff
- Monitor maintenance schedules and daily operations
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
- Maintain a strong understanding of the game of golf and course conditioning standards
- Adhere to all Dormie Network policies and procedures
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times
- Provide exceptional hospitality to members, guests, and fellow employees
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Qualified candidates should possess:
- Strong working knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including:
- Turfgrass management for greens, tees, and fairways
- Irrigation and drainage systems
- Fertilizer and soil conditioning practices
- Herbicide and pest control methods
- Ornamental plant and tree care
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong administrative, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Ability to operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities effectively
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Oversee daily operations of the department and lead maintenance staff
- 2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a leadership role
- Virginia pesticide license, or the ability to obtain one
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Ability to work on uneven terrain
- Ability to bend, crouch, stretch, push, pull, and lift as necessary
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to visually inspect course conditions, machinery, and materials
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment and machinery
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members
- Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment
