A well-established, employee-focused engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Office Leader to oversee and grow its Roanoke, Virginia office. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial professional who is passionate about business development, team leadership, and expanding transportation, buildings, facilities, water, environmental, and energy services throughout the region. Compensation: $210,000–$260,000+ depending on experience, qualifications, and professional credentials.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as the senior leader for the Roanoke office and surrounding markets.
- Drive strategic growth initiatives and support long-term business objectives.
- Foster collaboration, mentorship, and a high-performing office culture.
- Business Development & Client Relations
- Maintain and expand relationships with public and private sector clients.
- Pursue new opportunities with transportation agencies, municipalities, public works departments, and other government entities.
- Collaborate with marketing teams on proposals, pursuit strategies, and procurement efforts.
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Project & Operations Oversight
- Provide oversight and support to Project Managers and technical teams.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, invoicing, and contract compliance.
- Forecast staffing and resource needs to support office growth.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure work products meet applicable industry and organizational requirements.
- Review, supervise, and, when appropriate, stamp engineering documents.
- Financial Management
- Assume responsibility for overall office profitability and financial performance.
- Partner with regional leadership to maximize resource sharing and business opportunities.
- Coordinate staffing and workload distribution across offices.
- Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain top talent.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development activities.
- Support employee growth through regular feedback and leadership engagement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia.
- 20+ years of engineering industry experience.
- Strong background in leadership, project management, client development, and team building.
- Proven ability to grow business while leading successful engineering teams.
