Maintenance Technician

General Shale Brick, Inc., the leading manufacturer of brick and masonry materials, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Roanoke, VA manufacturing facility. This is a hands‑on opportunity within a highly automated, team‑oriented production environment, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

• Perform diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance on general mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Complete general fabrication and welding tasks, including passing an in‑house welding test.
• Safely operate oxygen and acetylene torches, cutoff wheels, grinders, drills, reciprocating saws, and other power tools.
• Demonstrate proficiency with basic hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, files, sockets, and ratchets.
• Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safe work practices.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
• Follow work instructions and safety policies in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

• Minimum of one year of related industrial maintenance experience required.
• Working knowledge of general fabrication, welding, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team.
• Ability to follow directions and read and understand technical instructions.
• Willingness to work in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform visual inspections and hands‑on mechanical work throughout the shift.
