Trillium Staffing is now seeking CNC Swiss Machinists / Programmers in Roanoke, Virginia!

Compensation:

-Operator Level: $23.00 – $28.00 / hr
-Setup Machinist: $28.00 – $35.00 / hr
-Programmer / Setup: $35.00 – $45.00 / hr

A premier manufacturing partner is seeking Swiss Turning Machinist professionals across multiple skill tiers to join a precision production team. This role covers responsibilities from production operation through advanced setup and programming. For entry-to-mid-level operators, this position serves as a direct career growth opportunity to hone your skills, learn advanced machining techniques, and progressively develop into setup and programming responsibilities through hands-on mentorship.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Production Operations:
  Efficiently load and unload raw materials and components from Swiss-style CNC lathes.
• Quality Assurance:
  Perform precise in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and indicators to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Process Monitoring:
  Monitor active machine operations, track tool wear, adjust offsets, and report any abnormal machining conditions.
• Documentation:
  Follow job travelers, work instructions, and safety protocols while accurately recording part counts and quality data.
• Technical Setup & Programming (For Advanced Tiers):
  Set up tooling, guide bushings, collets, and bar feeders. Write, edit, and optimize programs at the machine using G-code or CAM software.
• Team
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Communicate effectively across shifts regarding machining issues, support operator training, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Experience:
  
  1+ years of experience operating CNC or Swiss-style machines is preferred (3+ years of dedicated setup/programming required for higher pay tiers).
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  A solid understanding of basic Swiss turning principles, multi-axis machining, or machining practices.
• Print Reading:
  Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings (familiarity with GD&T is highly valued for setup/programming roles).
