Department: Manufacturing / Engineering / Quality
The Crimping Specialist – Corporate Coordinator is responsible for developing, standardizing, and optimizing crimping and splicing processes across VTC manufacturing operations. This role ensures high-quality electrical connections, compliance with industry standards, and consistent manufacturing practices across facilities. The position serves as a subject matter expert in crimping technologies, supporting production, quality, and engineering teams to improve reliability and performance of transformer components.
Responsibilities- Develop and standardize crimping and splicing processes across multiple manufacturing sites
- Ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA 70, UL/CE, and IEC standards for electrical connections
- Define best practices for crimp quality, including tooling selection, setup, and validation
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of crimp-related quality issues using root cause analysis
- Conduct and oversee crimp inspections and testing
, including pull testing, crimp cross-section analysis, continuity, and retention testing - Evaluate and optimize process variables impacting crimp quality and performance
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve manufacturability and product reliability
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, APQP, and FMEA methodologies
- Develop and maintain technical procedures, work instructions, and standard operating processes
- Perform audits to ensure adherence to established crimping standards and quality systems
- Support new product introduction (NPI) with crimping process development, validation, and implementation
- Train and mentor production personnel on crimping techniques, standards, and quality expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics Engineering
, or related field - Minimum 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering
- Strong knowledge of mechanical crimping and splicing processes
- Understanding of electrical connection requirements and product characteristics
- Experience with process standardization and development
- Knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, UL/CE, and IEC standards
- Proven ability to apply root cause analysis tools
- Bilingual:
English (B2/C1) and conversational Spanish - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with crimp testing methods (pull testing, cross-section analysis, continuity testing)
- Knowledge of materials such as terminals, connectors, insulation types, and wire gauges
- Familiarity with quality management systems and process auditing
- Experience with metrology, calibration, and validation of tools and equipment
- Background in training, instruction, or technical development
- Experience in transformer manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
